Aqua Blue and Orange Weddings

Ideas and Inspirations | Photos and Galleries
Color Palette:
aqua blue, sun orange, white, brown

Today's inspiration started when I saw the photo of the bridal shoes on the web site of Curtis Smith Photography {found site via @itsajaimething on twitter}. You can see a larger image of the shoes below the inspiration board - I HEART the brooch and the "something blue" inner sole. Originally the board was headed towards hues of aqua and sun orange, but once the necklace was found, I decided that some touches of brown would be a nice touch to accent the bright colors.

The above bridal shoe photo was the starting image for this aqua & orange inspiration board.

These are my colors! They are more like the colors in the necklace. I added some ivory and tan though. Where are those shoes from? I love them.

I just looked closely at the insole of the shoe in the photo and thought it said Grazia, checked online and it is - the style is Valentine and you can find them online at Bellissima Bridal Shoes

Hiren - the tie is from Me and Matilda on etsy - not sure if it's still listed in their store, but feel free to contact them directly, they can probably help out.

The color and the theme is great. It gives off a good idea for a beautiful wedding. It's visually enticicing I say. :D

You tricked me :) This palette is a lot better than the one I was mentioning on Twitter - as I figured it would be, given that it came from you :)
For one, this one also has 2 neutral colors (brown and diamond white). Secondly, this shade of aqua is far more bluish than the one I was commenting about.
My rule of thumb for a decent palette is: 2 neutrals and 2 bright colors. The bright colors need to be a warm and a cool shade. That way, every complexion, every eye color, every hair color will be flattered by the match.
As an alternative, I use 2 contrasting shades (again, a warm and a cool one) plus two other colors that are closely related. In one of my tweets I mentioned using fuchsia plus emerald green (contrasting, a cool and a warm shade) together with blue (close to green) and purple (close to fuchsia).
I rarely use 2 contrasting colors w/o anything else. They look too "simplified" to me. And, I almost never use ice white because no flower has that shade (not even orchids, which usually are diamond white!), so if you use stark white you are bound to have a mismatched wedding palette :)

I agree those are AMAZING colors, and I fell in love with your shoes the second I saw them! I don't know where you shop, but I hope I have half your luck. Congrats!
