The Landing Resort & Spa provides ultra-luxe experience on the lake

For many brides, the best “something blue” has always been the azure waters of Lake Tahoe. North America’s largest alpine lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is one of the most popular wedding venues in the U.S., but with the opening of the new The Landing Resort & Spa, Lake Tahoe’s only five-star luxury property on the lake, brides can enjoy an elegantly customized event in an all-new ultra-luxe lakeside setting. From pampered bride and wedding party spa treatments to a dream ceremony on The Landing’s Grand Rooftop Terrace overlooking the lake and beach to a spectacular reception held in one of a variety of indoor/outdoor venues personalized to the last detail, The Landing’s flawless service extends to every element of the special day.

Comprehensive planning is the forte of Director of Catering & Weddings Lisa Gallup, who brings her years of wedding planning experience in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco – as well as her up-to-the-minute knowledge of trends, colors and styles – to creating perfectly memorable events at The Landing. “I genuinely love weddings. After 15 years I still get teary-eyed when the bride walks down the aisle,” she admits. “My desire is to learn and understand each couple’s vision and personality to allow us to incorporate the personal elements that ensure an ideal wedding experience.”

The Landing’s Grand Rooftop Terrace provides a 3,600-square-foot elevated lake-view wedding deck that holds 300 people in theatre-style seating for the beauty of a lakefront ceremony without the sand. Standard features include chiavari chairs, a custom-designed wedding arch and elegant stone fireplace – and a rooftop suite offers the bride the option of dressing and stepping directly out onto the terrace from the comfort of her room. The Rooftop Terrace also can play host to a fabulous outdoor cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception while bride and groom use The Landing’s beach access for romantic photos at water’s edge. In addition to the rooftop terrace, an indoor lake-view banquet reception space with retractable glass sliding doors provides a beautiful view to the outdoors. A heated tent pavilion also offers reception space for up to 300 people. For smaller groups, The Landing’s new Jimmy’s Restaurant provides an intimate setting with a semi-private fireplace dining area or outdoor patio dining with fire pits.

For the ultimate in ease and convenience, the boutique 88-room size of the hotel lends itself to wedding buy-outs of the entire resort. “Guests may hand over their car keys to our valets and never have to get back into their cars from pre-wedding parties through post-reception activities,” explains Gallup. “And The Landing’s Mercedes Sprinter is available to whisk them to the casinos for multiple entertainment options or to Heavenly Village for some afternoon shopping.”

Fun-loving wedding parties can take a post-ceremony ride on The Landing’s complimentary beach cruisers decorated with “just married” signs down Lakeshore Drive for an only-in-Tahoe photo opportunity. Grooms and groomsmen might relax at next-door Edgewood Golf Course, and the nearby Lakeside Marina offers a full range of summer water activities. “Imagine the bridal party having bridesmaid-versus-groomsmen pedal boat races, or the bride and groom taking a relaxing kayak tour,” says Gallup, who adds that all of The Landing’s weddings and events include comprehensive food and beverage consultations, detailed floor plans and setup details, on-site event managers and a detailed list of professional wedding partners to provide full peace of mind.

And for a honeymoon as remarkable as the wedding, couples may consider a getaway to an exclusive hideaway perched along the cliffs of the Rincon de Careyes, Mexico, surrounded by thousands of acres of nature reserve and miles of unspoiled beaches. Casa Las Gemelas has hosted VIP guests from Claudia Schiffer to Steve Martin to Oprah Winfrey. With panoramic views and a 12-person cliffside jacuzzi, the casa includes a master suite with sitting room, guest bungalow and three additional guest suites, all with ocean views. A private staff attends to every need. Reservations for Casa Las Gemelas start from $15,000/week.

Opening in December 2013, The Landing Resort & Spa on Lake Tahoe’s southern shores includes an 88-room boutique luxury hotel, restaurant, spa and conference center. All rooms feature five-star amenities including marble bathrooms, heated toilet seats, heated bathroom floors, high thread count linens, 55-inch wall mounted televisions, plush terry robes, Keurig coffee service, luxurious contemporary European furnishings, fireplaces and private decks, and most have a view of Lake Tahoe. Select suites also offer aromatherapy, heat therapy, music therapy, light therapy, steam showers and thermo masseur tubs in the guest bath.

Owners of The Landing Jim and Nancy Demetriades realized the need for a new luxury resort that fully embraces Lake Tahoe’s spectacular beauty. “We’ve created The Landing out of our own desire for a five-star property located on the lake,” says Jim Demetriades.  “We want to provide guests with luxurious accommodations that seamlessly integrate with the natural beauty of our unique lakeside setting.”

The resort also offers fine dining at the new Jimmy’s Restaurant, serving wood-fired Greek seafood and locally sourced California cuisine in a setting that includes several private dining alcoves with fireplaces, as well as outdoor fire pits on a lakeside patio. Additional resort amenities include a large wine cellar featuring a special selection of 250 labels from around the world and backlit, onyx-walled bar, a full service spa and hair salon, a state-of-the-art gym, outdoor pool and hot tub, the 3,600-square-foot rooftop deck and a lake-view meeting room and board room.

Located adjacent to Lakeside Beach, The Landing Resort & Spa provides private beach access and is walking distance to the golf, outdoor concerts, nightlife, dining and shopping of South Lake Tahoe. Just three blocks from Heavenly Village and Gondola, Village Center and gaming casinos, The Landing provides complimentary transportation in a Mercedes Sprinter to the Heavenly Gondola and to the transportation center for convenient bus service to Sierra at Tahoe, Kirkwood or Northstar.
