Pomegranate Winter Wedding Inspiration - as seen in Bridal Guide Magazine

Today's post is a flashback to one of my favorite styled photo shoots I was a part of. This time of year, pomegranates are a big hit and their color couldn't be more perfect for weddings during the holiday season. This pomegranate styled shoot was featured in Bridal Guide Magazine as a 3 page spread in the Party Planner pages. For this shoot, I designed and hand-glittered all the paper goods including . . . invitation, dessert tags, place cards, and dessert toppers. All of the paper goods are still available for purchase in my Wedding Girl etsy shop. The stunning photography is by Kismis Ink Photography along with so many other amazingly talented wedding vendors who participated in creating this pomegranate inspired winter wedding. You can see the original post here with lots more inside scoop on the entire photo shoot and even more spectacular photos.

My 10 Favorite Winter Wedding Cakes

With the freezing cold temperatures and almost daily snow squalls here in the Northeast that amount to an inch or less of white "confectioner sugar" as I like to call it, my mind has wondered to Winter Wedding Cakes. I decided to scroll thru my wedding cakes pinterest board of just under 600 pins to pick out my favorites for the winter season. When thinking of a winter wedding cake, you don't have to think of just snowflakes or pine cones . . . how about a cable knit sweater? Or maybe a cardinal? Or pine boughs with red berries atop a naked cake? As we near Valentine's Day, I think it'd be great to add touches of red. Maybe cranberries as the trim around the cakes layers? Do you have a favorite cake from the ones shown below?

Pomegranate Wedding Ideas : featured in Bridal Guide Magazine

I am beyond excited to share this exciting news with you - I am featured in the current issue of Bridal Guide Magazine on pages 61-64 {which is on newsstands until Mar 20th, 2012} along with a HUGE team of amazing talents including Kismis Ink Photography who's stunning photos bring this winter inspired shoot to life. This pomegranate winter wedding photo shoot graces the Party Planner pages of Bridal Guide with a 3 page spread that was photographed in Tampa, Florida. For this shoot where pomegranates, orchids and pinecones take center stage, I created all the paper goods including . . . invitation, dessert tags, place cards, and dessert toppers. All of the paper goods are available for purchase in my etsy shop, Wedding Girl. Please be sure to pick up your copy of the Mar/Apr issue of Bridal Guide Magazine to see the full scoop on this pomegranate inspired winter wedding. Be sure to watch the video at the end of the post - you will love it!!!

From Mariana of Kismis Ink Photography . . . The pomegranate was a big inspiration due to the symbolism of plentiful and fruitful, fullness and sweetness. A feeling we feel that brides should have in their weddings.

The color palette for this seasonal fête was sparkling gold, rich red and snow white with the inspiring jumping-off point being the ripe, ruby-red pomegranate color. This fruit is in peak season during the fall and winter months so it was just perfect for this shoot. The gorgeous reds found both inside and outside the fruit established the color scheme for everything . . . from the invitaton suite to the table decor to the bride's bouquet and the wedding cake itself.

Lauren of Every Last Detail styled the centerpiece and introduced pine cones as a way to give the shoot a more rustic feel alongside the elegant red and gold elements. By combining the pine cones with the pomegranates, Lauren was able to create a unique nonfloral centerpiece for the table.

Pomegranate Red Wedding {Inspiration Board}

I absolutely love the red color of pomegranates and have been wanting to put together an updated inspiration board that incorporates more of the red color and not so much of the actual pomegranates themselves. Although the drinks and sweet treats do incorporate the fruit. For those that might be wondering, the pomegranate season is from October thru January each year. {you can see my post from last November, aka National Pomegranate Month, for a Pomegranate Inspired Wedding}

Pomegranate Weddings

In addition to November being National Pomegranate Month, pomegranates have history and tradition with weddings. The following facts and legends are from aznar.az:
• Ancient Greeks believed that the first pomegranate tree was cultivated on the Island of Cyprus by the Goddess of love - Aphrodite. Since then pomegranate juice has got reputation of "a love potion". Following the tradition modern Greeks break a pomegranate fruit during wedding ceremonies as a fertility symbol.
• According to the Koran, pomegranate trees among others grow in a perfect paradise garden. Many people consider flowers and pomegranate fruits as a symbol of wealth, abundance and fertility.
• In China they eat sweet pomegranate seeds on the day of wedding, thereby blessing a newly-married couple. A picture of a ripe pomegranate is a popular wedding gift.
