Q + A with Jim Brickman, "America's Romantic Piano Sensation" + a Giveaway

Happy Monday. With this week being the kick-off to the holiday season for my family {and likely yours as well}, I thought it would be fun to have a giveaway plus a Q + A with America's Romantic Piano Sensation, Jim Brickman. With it being engagement season and Jim's annual Christmas Tour just about to start - I wanted to ask him some questions about his romantic music and of course all the requests he receives for proposals at his concerts. My hubby and I have attended his holiday shows in the past and loved each one. They are magical and always in an intimate setting making them very romantic for all the couples in attendance. Below are my questions to Jim Brickman along with his replies and after the Q+A, there is a great giveaway where 4 lucky readers of Brenda's Wedding Blog will win a copy of Jim Brickman's brand new holiday album called "On a Winter's Night".

Q. Why do you think so many people approach you to propose at your concerts?

A. Couples connect to the romance, emotion and message they hear in my songs. And the concerts have such an intimate feeling, proposing in front of a huge audience doesn't seem to matter. It's about the moment and sharing it with each other.

Q. Do couples approach you to perform one of your songs at their wedding?

A. Yes, I'm honored to tell you that I'm asked all the time.   But it truly impossible due to my tour schedule. Couples have told me that their entire wedding ceremony was accompanied by Jim Brickman music, and they danced their "first dance" to one of my songs.

Q. When you write music, do you intend to be romantic? Do you have scenarios in mind when writing the music?

A. I try to imagine where the song will be heard, but I want the listener to create their own story. If I wrote a song and the melody sounded too specific, it wouldn't take on the universal theme of love and romance. Couples connect and find the emotion even in my Christmas albums. I could definitely picture my new CD "On A Winter's Night" being  played in front of a crackling fire.  The holiday songs create a warmth and intimacy that couples young and old find captivating during the holiday season. On this album the legendary Kenny Rogers sings "That Silent Night" about the longing to be together during the holiday season.

A new Father/Daughter Dance Song

I want to share with you a brand new original Father/Daughter dance song that's just been released called Daddy's Angel. Both the words and music are by the amazingly talented Anthony W. Carter of T Carter Music (Tony was previously featured in my blog for his wedding ceremony and reception music).

You can purchase the Daddy's Angel song on the T Carter Music web site. Also on the site is a music player with an acoustic version of the song as well as the lyrics. The words are so beautiful, you will probably want to have a tissue on hand because you might get tears in your eyes when you listen to the song. Click the play button below to hear the song and see the video clip:

Beautiful Wedding Music

I've recently been in touch with Tony of T Carter Music and wanted to share with you his inspirational and beautifully composed wedding recordings. Each of his 3 cds contain music that is extra special and unique for your wedding.

Lyrical Vows of Unity features 3 original music compositions, each with a vocal, intimate mix, non vocal, and intimate mix/non vocal compilations. Also - at TCarterMusic.com you can view the lyrics & listen to previews of each of these heartfelt songs. According to Tony, "Lyrical Vows of Unity are special moments between the bride and groom that make a wedding day unforgettable." The 3 original songs are:
This Ring (for the ring exchange ceremony)
Here We Stand (for the lighting of the unity candle)
Dance With Me (for the bride and groom's first dance)

Serenade is a "classical wedding collection featuring 12 of the most intimate, elegant, and romantic wedding songs ever recorded". Tony says, "My vision for Serenade was to create the most intimate, elegant, and romantic classical wedding recordings ever produced". Arrangements include Canon in D, Ode to Joy, The Wedding March and other classical compositions.

Highland Serenade is a "Celtic influenced" classical wedding CD - that merges classical compositions with elegant and inspirational Celtic tradition. Tony calls Highland Serenade "a truly one of a kind recording and simply a breathtaking and groundbreaking musical achievement".

Listening to T Carter Music's wedding cd's is a treat - not only is it the perfect accompaniment for your wedding ceremony, but a wonderful way to calm your nerves as you peruse all your books and magazines to plan your dream wedding.
