« Thank you all, Brenda's Wedding Blog is back here, each day | Main | January Wedding Vendor Challenge : nighttime shimmer with city views »
8:00AM

I'm in need of your advice and input as you are my audience . . .

Ok, it's time I ask for your feedback as I REALLY need to know from my followers {brides, family members and friends of brides and vendors} . . . do you prefer Brenda's Wedding Blog for my daily blog or do you like Best Wedding Sites? I'm going to be totally honest as that is how I always am with my business . . . I notice that traffic is still way up on this blog since I've been posting on Best Wedding Sites and I really want my readers to see the latest as well keeping my current positions in the search engines. I had wanted to condense everything into one site to be a bit more manageable, but I'm not sure that's logical given the latest reports. Maybe I should bring everything back to this blog for daily inspiration and say that it's "brought to you by Best Wedding Sites"? And, then keep Best Wedding Sites for the vendor finding directory and inspiring galleries? Since both sites can easily link between each other, maybe this is the best solution? I also feel that with Brenda's Wedding Blog, it's a bit more personal since you know it's coming from me? Is that crazy thinking?

I feel this is the best solution based on the viewing numbers, but I really need to hear from you as not only do comments make my day, but I love hearing from my readers. It totally makes me smile away when brides write to me to say something like this as one bride recently did . . . "Thank you for giving us Brides an awesome Blog to read!!"

I know personally I would check both sites to see what you have posted! I think what you said about doing your daily inspiration on Brenda's Blog & keeping Best Wedding Sites for the vendor directory & inspriring galleries sounds good. Also...you made me smile because I am the Bride who told you in an email.... "Thank you for giving us Brides an awesome blog to read!!!" :) Can't wait to see more posts fro m you!!

awwwww, thank you so much Melissa for being so sweet :) I'm definitely thinking this is the right direction now based on the response I've also received on facebook this morning. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

While I check both sites to see what you have posted. I still prefer Brenda's Wedding Blog. Maybe out of habit! I love the inspiration and the personal touch to it. But I do agree about bringing everything back to this blog for daily inspiration and then keeping Best Wedding Sites for the vendor finding directory and inspiring galleries. That way, you can have a more personal blog (this one) and a more professional one (Best Wedding Sites.)

And yes, Brenda's Wedding Blog could be under Best Wedding Sties. I love them both and will continue to check them both! But I am happy to get 2 for 1 :)

Hi Brenda, Following you on twitter! I had a similar branding problem lately - I have a number of sites that I need to bring under one umberella.

Best wedding sites is more SEO friendly but your name is more personal.

I have switched from being 'The Wedding Planner' to 'Rosie The Wedding Planner'. I still keep same URLs but I am branding the same logo across them.

Why not have 'Best Wedding Sites by Brenda' or 'Brenda's Best Wedding Sites' branding on both URLs with diffferent subheading of 'inspiration and ideas' and 'best wedding vendors'. You can link keywords between the two so that your paying vendors get a double whammy for their buck. I'm experimenting with a similar idea so I'd love to keep in touch since we are being faced with similar dilemmas!!

I'm still in the habit of checking both BWB and BWS everyday, as that's what I always did. It hasn't quite "sunk in" with me yet that BWB isn't there anymore, and I still go to both URLs thinking I'm going to find different things on each site every day.

I'm torn on this because I know maintaining two sites/blogs was a lot of work, but on the other hand, I liked how BWB was very personal, featured a lot of real weddings and stylized inspiration, and had a different slant than BWS. I always felt BWS had more information about products, vendors, contests, etc. -- more of the "business" of weddings (if that makes sense) and where to go to find different products and services for planning a wedding, where BWB was more focused on inspiration, ideas, DIY items -- the creative side of wedding planning.

I loved how the monthly vendor challenge shoots appeared on both sites, each with a different slant/perspective and always different pictures so that all the details were available for brides to see. That's one of the main things I miss now, especially since the detailed, descriptive text from past BWB challenge posts is still on BWB but the photos no longer display so the full post content is no longer viewable to brides and planners as inspiration.

Just my two cents worth.

Thank you Brenda! I am glad you made a choice that you are happy with! I know that your readers would have continued to follow you no matter what choice you made! I hope you had a great weekend also! :)
